National Cybersecurity Organisations
National Cybersecurity Organisations (NCSOs) are entities designated by Member States to implement and support the national cybersecurity frameworks, as required under related regulations such as the NIS2 Directive. These organisations include, but are not limited to national competent authorities for cybersecurity, single point of contact (SPOC) for cross-border cooperation, and national CSIRTs (Computer Security Incident Response Team). NCSOs form the backbone of a country’s cybersecurity governance system, ensuring alignment with EU requirements, and fostering coordination and resilience across sectors and borders. Among others, their key responsibilities include supervising and enforcing compliance by essential and important entities, facilitating operational cooperation at EU level, coordinating incident reporting and response at the national level, contributing to the development and implementation of the national cybersecurity strategy, cooperating with ENISA and other EU bodies to enhance overall cybersecurity resilience.
